Alteration and addition to existing single-storey house,

The inner-city elevated Victorian home of a growing family of four had a brief of a new bedroom designed for the eldest son who loves to climb. This combined with the couple's love for the Danish artist Coos Braakman gave rise to the concept of an internally accessed tree house. The spiral staircase creates a level of playfulness in the living area and connects to the top floor.

The design inspired by the Danish artist’s work with the façade composition of varying opacity and solidity is a derivation of it. Finally, the solid windows of the façade create a medium of visual connectivity from the study to the scenery beyond.
