Single-storey extension of existing single-storey house.

Alteration and addition to an existing single-storey house.

The never-ending passage of a Victorian house on a rectangular block is addressed by splitting the house into two zones, separated by an area to pause, refresh and energise. This pause represents that required space of respite or transition not only in the house but also in this fast-paced world.

The area of pause further separates the old from the new, where the new living area is driven by the everchanging trees in the backyard. The roof slopes up to capture the changing seasons through a large high window while the design respects and celebrates nature.
